VideoBook

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data VideoBook handles, why it is used, how long it is retained, and the choices available to you.

Effective date and version: 2026-08-15

1. Controller and scope

The VideoBook service operator is responsible for personal data handled through videobook.live. When paid services are enabled, the legal entity, business address, and data-protection contact are shown on the Contact page. You may exercise privacy rights through the request form on that page.

This policy covers the public website, accounts, support requests, and related administrative systems. Third-party sites have their own policies.

2. Data we collect

  • Account data: email address, display name, encrypted password verifier, language, country, currency, email-verification status, and account timestamps.
  • Security data: session identifiers, IP address, device/browser information, login attempts, and authentication events.
  • Activity data: favorites, watch history, comments, ratings, preferences, and interactions with catalog pages.
  • Support data: request type, contact details, message, referenced URL, status, and correspondence needed to resolve the request.
  • Transaction data: orders, entitlements, payment status, PayPal or Wise transaction references, refunds, coupons, and wallet records. VideoBook does not receive or store full payment-card numbers.

3. Why we use data

We rely on your consent where required, performance of requested services, legitimate interests in security and service operation, and legal obligations. We limit collection and use to purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate.

  • Create and secure accounts, verify email addresses, maintain sessions, and recover passwords.
  • Provide catalog, playback-related features, personalization, moderation, support, and requested transactions.
  • Prevent abuse, investigate incidents, measure reliability, keep audit records, and comply with legal obligations.
  • Send essential service messages. Marketing messages will require an appropriate choice and provide an unsubscribe method if introduced.

4. Sharing and international processing

We do not sell personal data. We disclose only what is needed to service providers acting for us, including PayPal and Wise where selected at checkout, professional advisers, authorities where legally required, or a successor in a properly controlled business transfer.

  • Amazon Web Services hosts the current application and database infrastructure.
  • Resend processes email delivery information for verification and password-reset messages.
  • PayPal or Wise processes payment and account information under its own privacy notice when you select that provider. VideoBook receives transaction identifiers, amount, currency, status, and limited payer or reconciliation information needed to confirm and support the purchase.
  • Data may be processed outside your country. We use contractual, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the transfer and applicable law.

5. Retention and security

We use access controls, password hashing, encrypted transport, restricted production secrets, audit records, backups, and monitoring. No system is completely secure; we assess incidents and make legally required notifications.

  • Account data is retained while the account is active. On deletion, direct identifiers are removed and non-essential activity is deleted.
  • Sent authentication-email content is ordinarily removed after 30 days. Verification and reset links expire after one hour.
  • Resolved support requests are ordinarily retained for up to 24 months; longer retention may apply to disputes, fraud, copyright, or legal duties.
  • Financial and transaction records may be retained for the period required by tax, accounting, anti-fraud, and consumer laws, ordinarily no longer than seven years unless law requires otherwise.

6. Your choices and rights

We may verify your identity and may retain information where an exception or legal duty applies. Withdrawing necessary processing may mean we can no longer provide an account or requested feature.

  • Access a machine-readable export from Account settings and request additional access information.
  • Request correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of consent where applicable.
  • Revoke active sessions and delete your account from Account settings.
  • Complain to the relevant privacy regulator. We ask that you contact us first so we can investigate promptly.

7. Children and changes

VideoBook is not directed to children under 18. If you believe a child provided data without valid guardian authorization, submit a privacy request.

Material policy changes will be announced where practicable, and renewed consent will be requested when required. The current version and effective date appear on this page.
